Majority of disabled consumers experience persistent digital barriers on European travel websites

Nexer Digital published a report highlighting widespread digital exclusion one year after the European Accessibility Act took effect.

The study revealed that fifty-six percent of disabled consumers reported significant accessibility barriers when navigating travel websites, while only thirteen percent completed their online journeys independently.

For design engineers, software developers, and web administrators, these persistent flaws during critical browsing and verification stages underscore the insufficiency of basic compliance checkboxes.

Abandoned checkouts and inaccessible customer support frameworks directly suppress consumer loyalty and alienate a major purchasing cohort. Ultimately, this ongoing exclusion signals that the travel industry must aggressively transition from reactive structural updates to continuous, user-centered accessibility monitoring.

This persistent exclusion highlights that the travel sector must move beyond minimum legislative compliance to integrate accessible user experiences directly into core consumer infrastructure.
